Default MAKE SOME NOISE! - Audi considering dropping manual trans..

Just read in Ward's AutoWorld that Audi USA was talking about dropping the manual trans (just offering DSG) for all but the S and RS models in the future..

If they do, they can kiss my money goodbye. I've had 3 Audis, and without a manual, there will be no 4th (was planning on a B8 A4).

How do we get heard? any ideas? anybody else think this sux?

Default I will not be buying an Audi an auto transmission or DSG. Manual>DSG (for my needs at least).

Yes, the Veyron is a skip for me as well :-(

That will be the dumbest decision audi will ever make if they go through with it.

Default While I do thoroughly enjoy the 3rd pedal...

I have to say that DSG is one hell of a tranny. Its very likely that my next audi will be DSG, my wife can't drive a manual and with kids/dogs a manual isnt exactly ideal. I would thoroughly enjoy a S/RS vehicle with DSG, quick shifts, minimal powerloss through the tranny, ability to have the tranny shift itself. The only downside I see to them putting DSG into an S/RS car is that they would HAVE to have a sport mode in which the TCM could not shift for you at all and you would need to have launch control.

That said, manual should be an option still but a very hard to find option.

Default This is NOT true. I contacted Audi and they said they were misquoted...(more)

They assured me that they would continue to offer manual transmissions in non -S and -RS cars.

Given that the A5 is launching with a manual only here in the U.S. is a good sign I think.

The A4 is my first car with a manual. I'm enjoying rowing too much :-)

Default I need teh clutch pedal ;-)

Although I do completely understand your position. I imagine having kids and a dog in the back seat hinders joy of manual transmissions greatly.

Default Calm down they're not dropping it...

I just read somewhere that they will continue to offer the manual on the B8
