warranty. it's a cheap part, but the transmission has to be dropped in order to replace it.

Default What if it makes the noise with or without the clutch being pressed?

If the throwout bearing needs to be replaced, doesn't it only make the noise when you're not engaging the clutch -- or is it the other way around?

Regardless, my car makes the noise whether I have the clutch pressed or not. If I'm going 40mph and I pop the clutch in, put it in neutral, and brake my way to a stop -- when I press the clutch down the sound just sounds like it's winding down or slowing down (that's when it makes a deeper sound).

mind failure if noise when pedal out, squealing with pedal in = immediate replacement

Default It's not squealing. I don't notice a difference whether I press the clutch or not.

I just notice once I've reached 40-45, if I slow down, it seems to make a louder deeper sound but fades away the slower I go until I stop.

I bought my car a little over 3 years ago (certified previously owned). I just hope whatever it is, it's covered under the warranty.

I know the warranty is 5 years or 100,000 miles. I'm just hoping that the 5 years didn't start in 2003 when the car was manufactured. I'm not sure how the warranty works.

Default Did you do the load test?

You should try loading left and right side by turning your car at a speed with the humming sound and see if the sound changes. If so it is probably a wheel bearing. I had the same issue and after doing the above test I concluded it was the left front wheel bearing. I replaced it last weekend and no more noise. I could tell the bearing was in bad shape. I also replaced the other one.
