Manual or Tiptronic.... which one gives you the extra edge in performance situations?

although it is fun to be able to exit tight corners immediatly in first, which is difficult with a manual. But under all other circumstances a manual is faster if you know what you are doing.

I wouldn't have had the presence of mind to gear down to accelerate out of the problem area in as short a time...
...but I'm a crappy driver w/ manual tranny, because I don't drive one every day.

...you still have to slide it over and upshift or downshift manually. Like from launch. Or accelerating through a turn. Or those times where the CVT just won't respond with a performance driven downshift to punch up the torque.
The beauty is when I need auto - and that's most of the time - it's the best. No slush box; clutch plate driven. When I need manual for those special situations - it's there. And no smoking clutch to replace. Yahoo!
