My brother in law in FL is being charged $1K extra because the dealer has to get the car from another state. is this common or just a "tactical" thing?? thanks

not really, we usually charge the cost of shipping only
which runs about $300 give or take a little, really depends where they are getting it. If the had to go to say Denver, that may cost $1k

Not true... I have gone to Texas for 3 cars...
b/c of quirky option requests. shipping is about 1k from here in Atlanta. Remember, it's usually a car TRADE, so thats 500 ea way, round trip.
