Default memory seats

I remember a discussion on sychronizing the remote with the memory seats and tried it. It didn't seem to work the way I think it should. My idea on how it should work is that the seat should return the the memory position whenever the car is unlocked with the remote. Say for instance, I move the seat back to make getting out easier then lock the car using the remote. When I unlock the car I think the seat should return to the memory position. Is there a way to accomplish this?

Default you need to have the dealer reprogram the ECU.........

the new A4 has an "improved" system. It's a little strange but the new system is designed so that the driver does not have to program anything. the remote remembers where the seat is when the car is locked using the remote. This way if someone else drives the car when the car is unlocked with the remote it goes back to the drivers position. the old system as on the A6 works the way you describe, you program your postion into a memory button and the remote always puts the seat back to that position. We've been told the new system can be progrmaed to work like the old system although I have not personally seen it done.

ps: is this confusing enough?

Default Re: memory seats

I think what everyone seems to experience is that the 'memory seat' and 'last known position' are two different things. because thats how mine works; if you modify a memory position without saving (i.e. overwriting the previous setting) during driving, then lock the car and unlock with same fob, the seat doesnt move. If you press the memory location #, it would revert to the last saved config (prior to modifications)
The most confusing aspect of this is that it doesnt memorize last config unless you have the door OFF button (door pocket) depressed.

Default Re: I called my dealer?????

Yes I have a similar problem with my audi. The dealer told me that they must erased the previous program setting . After that they will show me how to asigned a memory to my remote keys(2).
