Default MIL - Does it reset on it's own?

Would the MIL have reset after X amount of starts or miles on it's own after cylinder misfires?

I had the dealer check it and reset it. Just wondering.

Thanks.

Default

depends on the MIL. Misfires most likely not. Gas cap not on tight, yes.

Default Yes it will...

If the error is not detected after the next 3 trips (forget how long they have to be), then the MIL light will go off. The error code will still remain and can be read from a VAG-COM device.
