Default minor pitting on the windshield makes the aero wipers useless

yep, thats the skinny on the wiper upgrade for $120 for the 04 and older A4's.

About 7 months ago, I upgraded my wiper arms and wipers to the aero / icon style wipers. If you're not familiar they are factory on the 05+ A4's. This wiper is the type that is minus the metal structure.

A month ago, I replaced my driver side wiper with new one ($25 retail ea). The issue I was having, is that with each pass, the wiper would lay about 10-15 streaks across the windshield.

Turns out, I looked at the windshield and there is minor pitting throughout the windshield.

So not much of a purpose here aside from voicing a lesson learned.

On the flipside, is anyone else having this same problem (with the upgraded wipers)?

Has anyone used different brand wipers with this set up than the oem wipers?

Are the oem wipers bosch? valeo?

TIA all

Default There are no aftermarket wiper options for the aero arms unfortunately. Proprietary blades

only available from Audi. I believe they're made by Bosch. $16.20 each from <a href="http://www.audipartssuperstore.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=22_32_60&products_id=490" target="_blank">Audi Parts Super Store (formerly Clair Parts)</a>

I just had my windshield replaced but prior to that, it was quite sand blasted and a few pits here and there. I didn't experience what you are experiencing now though.

Have you tried cleaning the blades?

Try clay baring the windshield. That may help remove a lot of the grit...

IIRC, ECS sells a OEM and a aftermarket Bosch version.

Default interesting. Just checked it out, they do sell a Bosch set but for $47 before shipping...

that's more than factory @ $32 for a set! And I think Bosch makes the factory ones too.

Default Cool. Just interesting they would come out with a "aftermarket" solution but cost

more than the factory part. If they're that much better, I might give them a try. So far, pretty happy with the factory blades.

From the picture on ECS, looks like it has some sort of adapter.

Default Good suggestion. Then I'd put two coats of Rain-X on it. That should prep the surface

to be smoother for the wiper blades. The blades themselves should still be fine.

Default They are nice, but they absolutely suck in cold weather...

they tend to get frozen way too easily (at least in my experience) when it's heavy snow.

Default Yep, I was amazed when I did that to my windshield and windows - much clearer.

I was too lazy to do the rain-x, and it got nasty fast. next time!
