For any oil misers that might languish here, Mobil 1 for $3.75/q jugs are no more. Wal*Mart changed the price to $22.45, a heafty $.70c jump. Castrol SYNTEC made a simltaneous appearance at Mobil 1's exact $18.88/5q price. This does not apply to 0w oils obviously, which are more expensive to PRODUCE. I would not want the bunk Syntec, Mobil 1 is a great oil, but the Rotella T Synth 5w-40 is sitting right there for $3.20/q. It is awesome stuff and imo, better than M1. I was planning on using M1 10w-30 for summers (HT/HS 3.2) but now I don't know.

I just buy my Red Line, Kendall GT-1 Synth, Lubro Moly, AMSOIL, Pentosin, Royal Purple,... and I am done with it. Price is not the deciding factor for me. No issues. No; "this one is cheaper, why don't I get it".... And then you are unsure which one is even better also- gauging it on price. At that price, why should you care? You made a good point of paying less then what I pay, so that you can change more often (comparing frequently changed, fresh less expensive synth oil to others that are used longer and more expensive). But here you are debating which one to use because of price. I think you have "oil on the brain". You are spending way to much time with it.

He has a bunch of the 'ol Yeller 0w-30 in the store but orders 2 cases at a time of the new stuff for me. I have used almost all already, save 3 cases total for future (MY!) use. The Castrol 6 for 5 deal looks even better now with the M1 increase. BTW- I'd add some heavier oil to that 0w-30, over time it will shear out-of-grade. It starts out kinda thin for a 30 to begin with.

If I ever got bored with it, I'd stock up on Rotella and run it in everything. A few older cars are going to get Penzoil HM, 10% esters, $2. I do not play favourites with brands. Oh yeah, think about all the poor souls in Europe who have to pay $20 a quart for similar motor oils due to the taxes, they really have to economise.

Damn! Didn't know it was that much in Europe for a qt of oil. I knew petrol at the pump was high, but $20 for engine oil. Now I do not feel bad paying for Red Line, since our petrol is much cheaper.

I am changing oil everyone's cars at once, in May and November. Forgetting miles up to a certain cutoff point, like 6-9k. Cars that are newer/better/get driven farther get better oil. Easy! ...sigh.
