Default MTM questions...

i finally got some money, and its time to get chipped
thinking about MTM among others...
is it a solder on chip or flash?
is it more reliable than apr/giac/revo etc.?
is the power smoother?
why does it cost more that the others on the market?

Default MTM is solder/socket but... (more)

as much as i love mtm if you do not plan to further with mtm products like exhaust injectors or basically stage 2 or 3, i wouldnt recommend you to get a chip. it would be much easier to go with apr/giac/revo being they are local in US, cheaper, and can be flashed. I myself would probably go with APR or GIAC if i was not committed to MTM in matter of days =). GIAC has flash loader which can be used with your port and APR has similar feature with your cars signal stalk. REVO also has SP1/2

if you want TUV approved products like MTM, you can always go with other european tuners such as Dahlback, ABT, and others. With MTM everything is designed to work together (chip, injectors, exhaust, etc) if one of those is different, then you could be affecting the performance, by how much i dont know. Dahlback for example lets you customize your setup. amirsafdari is a good example of this. He has a the Dahlback 1+ chip with brullen exhaust, and other goodies. When it was time for him to get chipped, he had to write down his mods, so they customized his chip with his mods to take full advantage of them. MTM is a great company dont get me wrong, im not saying dont get it, if you want it then by all means. Im just showing you other alternatives.

does this mean that any exhaust/injectors other than MTM will NOT work?
Why are thier prices so high? are they this high in europe?

What makes a chip TUV approved? will it still void the warranty? will you get better reliability/performance?

i will probably wait till i get back from holiday to do anything, but ive heard bad things about APR 1+, so i may avoid that one...giac with flashloader is a possibility...
