Default MY BAD DAY: saw it all happen right in front of me...the Montero pulling out of the parking spot...

...next to my car, and in the process making a long streak of scratches down the driver side of my A4 (1400mi...1 month old). Luckily, most of the scratches were plastic from the montero's front bumper, but not all. I knew the guy who did it...we were both in the same summer class. I ran up to him while he was backing out (I had seen it coming), but he wasn't paying attention (doh) and didn't see waving my arms and yelling. He was apologetic, but who the hell cares about an apology? SO, I put my books down on top of his car and get his information. I then get back into my car and pull away, not realizing that all of my notebooks are on top of my car. SO, I look in my rearview mirror after I hear a THUNK and realize that all of my notebooks are scattered around the parking lot. Yay!

I back up and pull into a parking spot, but the front wheels lock up as I'm backing into the spot so the car does a 180 and puts skidmarks on the ground (FU*K, I think). I get out, gather all my stuff in the wind, and run back to retrieve my notebook. While in the process of that, I run thru a 6" puddle and get water all over my f*cking pants.

So, I drive straight from class to the body shop, where they quote me $478.47 for repairs. The car was very dirty, so I want to get it cleaned and have them check it out one more time just to make sure we didnt miss anything.

Apparently, he also hit my driver-side rear wheel (all of the brake dust was taken off in certain parts), but it looks okay. The car was driving fine.

So, long streaks, chipped paint, scratches, wet pants, and tire marks later, I'm still very upset. Here are some pics:

This is a picture of some of the damage...to the right hand side is the driver side rear tire wheel well:

Same picture but w/flash:

Scratch w/rear door closed (you can see the how dirty the car is):

Wheel (seems to be okay, but you can see where the brake dust was rubbed away by his car):

Wheel (w/flash):

Any advice? I'm sure a lot of you have gone thru this. I need sympathy :-( !!!!

Thanks everyone

Park safely,
Mick

Default When it rains it pours...sorry to hear.

Default Sorry to hear, but at least there are no big dnets, and your A4 is running

I know things like this can be a pain in the butt. I wish most people would care for other people's cars, but I know that they do not. They just like to ignore others around them.

At least noone is hurt, and there are no big damages to your car. Keep us posted.

Default Thanks, everyone. I took the car to the dealer (to fix something else) and they washed it for me...

and on the way home, it poured (yes, you are right, Jimax...when it rains, it pours! LOL). So, naturally, there goes the nice clean car feel. I dryed it off when I got home, and now it's sitting in the garage, sleeping after its long day lol. I'll get some more estimates tomorrow...but yes, I was lucky. This could have been much worse (although it also could have been much better if someone wasn't being a moron). No, the textbook thing wasn't very funny at the time; I could have seen the humor if it was someone else. And, cl_AUDI, I was thinking about the pants-picture, but it didn't work out logistically. ;-)

Drive safely and happy parking,
-Mick

Default i totaled my car the day before a test last week that determined my grade for the class...

prof wouldnt let me take it later.

ontop of that my girl hated me that day, i lost 80 bucks somehow, and the airbag ruined my fav shirt that i've had for the last 7 years.

but hey... ur week can only get better... (hopefully)

good luck
