Default Update 1: We scanned the car and saw a cyl. 3 misfire and a lovely catalytic efficiency below...

threshold code (intermittent).

We cleared the codes for now, changed the spark plugs (I was running OEM plugs for the last 5K instead of the Bosch Platin plugs that Hoppen recommends to be used with the MTM software) and topped off the coolant... and then on my way to work I did get a nice solid CEL while accelerating in 2nd.

I'll try replacing the cyl. 3 coilpack this evening.

Default It never did before (been running it since July, 2006). I'm thinking the O2 sensors are on their...

way out. Either way, I don't think it's the HFC's fault.

If you think its an O2, its the rear one, rear does efficiency.

Default when you scanned the car, did it say MIL ON after the cat. insuficiency code?

I used to get cat. insuficiency code (still do daily actually) but sometimes they wouldn't throw a CEL, I found them by accident by scanning the car for something else. That way you can know if the misfires or the cat. insuficiency threw the CEL.

Default Don't remember. There was no CEL prior to scanning.I'm hoping to get the car scanned later today...

and see what the CEL is about.

Default Update 2: Well so far it looks like all the hoopla was caused by a failing coilpack...

Since I replaced the failed (failing) "R" coilpack on cyl. 3 with an "L" last night, the car seemingly woke up. I still have a solid CEL, but I'm hoping that it'll dissapear on its own soon enough.

What's really strange is that, my car did not show the classic blown cp symptoms (flashing CEL, shudder, etc), instead it acted like it was half asleep (the best analogy that I can give is that the car felt like the already heavy DMFW gained another 15lbs).

I'll keep this thread updated.
