This is the e-mail I've got from my dealer today:
"The car is in the order bank. It should be one of the first cars to go into production. No pricing yet. I will keep you posted."
Can't hardly wait!!!!!!

I had a 2003 on order but after the 2004 specs came out I have changed my mind and decided to go for a 2004 instead. Had I wanted Tiptronic it would not have been a big deal but the 6-speed manual was just too much to give up over the 5-speed of the 2003.

I have placed an order for a 2003 on 3/8/03 and was promised 90 days. However that car was just built this week, which is ironically the last week of the 2003 production, and won't be here for another 4 weeks probably.
Then on 4/28/03 when the 2004 order guides became available I have changed over to a 2004 and I am awaiting that one instead.
The time when I placed the order for the 2004 with the dealer does not matter much, what matters is when the dealer gets 2004 allocations and when they can start ordering them from AoA and adding them to the factory order bank. According to sources, some dealers got allocations and can already order 2004s this month, some will not get their allocations for another month. Delivery of the first 2004s should be end of August/ beginning of September I'm guessing. So when you order a car at the dealer is not really the time the car gets ordered, it's when the dealer gets their monthly allocation that counts.
For me the 6-speed manual, factory Sirius satellite, alu dash trim and all season tires on the sport package as well as the lighting package (includes dimming mirrors with the xenons) made the change over to the 2004 a no brainer.
I have to wait an extra 2 months but I think it will worth it for me in the long run big time!
