Default My car has arrived! Questions... (a bit long)

I can get the car tomorrow. Finally!

The broker asked if I want a "protection package" for the car:
- undercoating
- body sealing
- paint sealant (silicone)
- leather conditioner/stain repellant

Fo $480 (CDN) instead of the dealer's $800.

Is it worthwhile? I was considering having the car RustChecked (rust inhibitor sprayed into the interior panels) but had not thought about this. Seems like a lot of cash for some spray-on goop.

Opinions?

Thanks,
Sean.

Rip-off. Not necessary.

Default None of that is needed - and just buy a leather conditioner like Lexol. :)

Our cars have galvanized sheet metal for rust prevention and receive an undercoating at the factory. Silicone paint sealant? Forget it.

Default Don't fall for that, its just a scam. Would you like some deluxe blinker fluid? I have some on sale

for $9.95 a gallon. Your car won't rust for a good 15+ years, if it does in the first 10 years Audi will pay to repair it. Take a look on Ebay, out of 20+ old Audi's up for auction maybe 1 has some rust. Save your money.

Default Re: Questions...

Thanks!

My wife had the paint sealer on her Jeep and it worked pretty well. I agree the leather conditioner is a good idea. I asked about ClearBra but they don't handle that.

don't buy it - car are now rust proof unless it's a deep dent/scratch that gets under coating.

Default Re: leather conditioner, I just noticed you got the 1.8T, so it's just leather seating surfaces (m)

That means you only have leather inserts that will need conditioning. Don't bother trying to use the conditioner on the leatherette pieces - it'll just leave a residue on them.

Default Car is 100% galvanized. Don't need it.

Why a broker rather than dealer ?

BTW, if broker tries this, be very careful they don't try to slip something else into the transaction.
