My car is making a nasty metal clanking sound coming from the ....(m)

driver side rear. Almost sounds like a heat shield is hitting the exhaust. It only occurs at certain rpm's. when i put my ear next to the back wheel it sound slike it is very close to there. Any guesses? could somethin be loose in my exhaust?

Check your cross brace for your exhaust, the weld MAY be broken on the pipes.

You have to look under, grab the pipe and move it. See if it seperates.

the exhaust is all together fine. the cross brace is attached to both pipes

the noise is incredibly loud from outside. drowns out my neuspeed

The trick, get a bud to listen or rev it up and try and listen and feel around...

that's how I found my broken cross brace on my exhaust. May be a loose brake rotor guard???

My neuspeed exhaust...

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/42872/img_0150.jpg"></center><p>broke right at the weld, could barely notice it. But it was VERY annoying. Double check ALL welds and metal that go from hangers or to each exhaust AGAIN. Yank on them. Cause I did a visual and everything looked fine, then my roommate got underneath there and started tugging and moving stuff and my exhaust broke a clean break...Heres a pic! Notice how clean the break is...I would have never seen it. Hope this helps...gotta run.
