Well if you saw my posting below on how poor the jack/tools are in changing a flat tire...it got worse!
Took flat tire to local tire store that has done me well in the past. I was going to go to the dealer but figured a tire shop has more experience patching a large hole, plus they assured me they won't scratch the wheel....WRONG!
Drop tire off at 8:30 AM, said be back at 4:30PM...no problem with them.
I'm back at 4:30...didn't do it yet, but will right now and mark wheel/tire to keep balance.
Bottom line....gouged wheels all over, chips of wheel paint removed, the tire still leaks like hell, rotated the tire so it's out of balance, and to rub salt into the deep wound...charged me $15 for the service!!!
I called their head office...they said they will take care of me...wonder if that means I won't wake up tomorrow??
Anyhow...do you guys feel the dealer is the better place to have tires mounted without scratching the wheels and performing proper balancing?
I can't find a tire place around here that seems to have competent people that really know what they are doing.

I can't believe they would be that bad or they would farm the tire work out and I need to find where! Rayco is Tire Rack's approved installer, so maybe they are good?
It just sucks that McCarthy screwed up the wheels, I asked 3 times if they were capable of not scratching the wheels and they said yes!
I'm demanding a new rwheel tomorrow, not repairs or replacements from Wheel Collision....

i know a dominican guy in passaic who performs miracles on tires. he hasn't learned a word in english in 7 years, but he resurrects dead tires back to life. badly punctured michelin got another year of life for $15 ( that's including well deserved 200% tip)...
i'd stay away from dealers. they consign barely scratched tires to the garbage bin.

...was yours a slow leak? I brought mine to Discount tire and they put the tire in the tank...couldn't find the puncture. Then I asked him to check the pressure in all four tires. The other rear tire only had 30psi! Anybody else having a slow leak problem?
Oh...I wasn't charged for any service and no scratches...

....doesn't work - since repair "unbalances" tire. After a repair, the tire/wheel combo needs rebalancing.
BTW - maybe he did mark your tire - with a screwdriver....
