Default Better? I would be confident to say not...

But to isolate the differences for scrutiny and drivability, yes...
But I'll leave that for others and manufacturers. That takes a lot of effort and time.

The suspension is an entire system that works connected to one another. Each change, little or a lot, affects the ride, little or a lot...
To isolate the coilovers and leaving the sway bars off, would be really of no advantage as you would eventually have to put the sways back on...And when you do that, you need to balance it back again.

IMO, balancing and alignment needs to occur when all settling of the ENTIRE (not parts of it) suspension has occurred and final adjustments have been made to the ride height/dampers (if that applies).

Default To a point. You would need a much better setup than the standard coilovers though...

basically a stasis track or motorsport or else a Bilstien PSS9 with upgraded springs. cheers! mike

I'm glad your set up is a success! Where are you having the corner balance done? ATI by chance?

Default Good points. Keep in mind too that when it is being balanced, they adjust the height of the CO.

Not by much, but that's how they shift the weight. You probably know this, but others may not.

Default Thanks, I've got a couple in mind...

Bruce's Alignment (Royal Oak) and your shop, ATI...
ATI is in Wixom, right?
Did you feel confident w/ their skills w/ Audi quattro cars? Most but not all shops around town here, don't know much unless, they have "big-3" stamped on the hood
Do you feel they did a good job? ie, Tires wearing evenly?
Was the price right?

Sorry for the many questions and TIA.

Default Well said!

Based on my experience however, I would recommend you raise the front end to a minimum of 25" ground to fender. 24.5 will wear out your front tires a lot sooner.

Excellent write up per your usual standards. Any scrap-age yet? I've learned to fear speed bumps.

Default ....

I was pleased with ATI's work. They've done both domestic and foreign cars, and when I inquired abour corner balancing with them about a year ago, they said they've done them before, both on Audis, Porsches, and some other makes. They charge by the hour, which I think was about $80. He thought he could do an Audi corner balance in an hour, two at the most, depending on how close he is to start with.

I'd like to get an alignment done in the next 1-2 months, and I'll probably try to get back to ATI. I know where Bruce's is, I drive by it all the time, I just don't know what capabilities they have. I know Ced has used them.
