My wife called today and said that the brakes screech whenever she presses the brake pedal. What
could be causing this? The car has approximately three thousand miles on it, and has not screeched before.

You can powerwash them if they are relatively cool. Drive it hard to bed the pads, 3x stopping fast.
Press hard on the pedal. powerwashing will clean all the road crap off.
