Default Mysterious driveability problem with 1.8T CVT at 20K miles

After a 250 mile trip my throttle became very touchy at low speeds and it feels like there's too much engine braking at 15 mph and below. It used to be easy to drive the car smoothly, but now I have to try much harder to accelerate and brake smoothly below 20 mph. The throttle becomes especially touchy when accelerating just below 2000 rpm. Also, at all speeds, I sometimes feel transmission activity a little more and feel a bit of a bump when I release the throttle.

I told my friendly Audi Tech. about this. He hooked up the computer and found no indication of transmission problems. He suggested that maybe I was experiencing some shift programs I'm not used to. I tested that theory by radically altering and alternating driving styles to prompt it to change shift programs. Nothing changed.

This problem is fairly subtle, but definitely makes the car less fun to drive. In most respects, the transmission seems to function properly.

I'm wondering if something is amiss in the electronic throttle or engine control.

Anybody have any ideas, suggestions or similar experiences? Next week I plan to share this info. with the Audi Tech. and ask him to take a test drive.

I don't really understand your problem.

Default OK. Assuming you're serious, I'll try again.

The drivetrain does not operate smoothly, especially at low speeds. It hesitates and surges. It's difficult to accelerate and brake smoothly. While braking to a stop, the braking force builds disproportionately with pedal pressure, giving an artificial kind of feel and more braking than desired. At higher speeds, release and reapplication of the throttle isn't smooth. It used to be all smooth all the time. Really nice. Now it isn't.

I think you can use a VAG tool to reset any adaptation the CVT may have for your driving style
