Default Nav Plus System...

In addition to performance, beauty and looks of a car, the navigational system is one of the main reasons I want to buy a new car today. I have looked into the AUDI A4 and the BMW 325i. Is the Audi nav plus system just black and white or there is color to it? I like the one in the BMW, but I already own a 323i 2000, and I want that Audi. Can anyone tell me if there is more to the Nav Plus Sys in the Audi?
Thank you,

I'm still curious as to what's going on with the NAV system for a # of reasons:

1) Official dealer info said NAV system unavailable until January, same with prices

2) Not until January will audi start equipping cars with the 4 spoke wheel which has NAV and Stereo controls incorporated (telematics package)

3) The systems demoed to my dealer on their new A4 training, according to the salesman (and no, he was not lying to us, trust me), is teh most impressive NAV system he's ever seen. Full OnStar system, better than anything out there. And, no, the guy was not going to say that about a black and white display system.

4) The new Audi Digital phone system integrated with the new NAV system, offering such things as on screen phone book and voice activated dialing (more OnStar features).

Makes me wonder if Audi will beputting a new NAV system into cars around January and all of you who got NAV with your current cars got screwed, and purchased the old NAV system.

Default Nav Plus System... Only in Europe so far

So far the US version will have a color display in the speedometer cluster.

There are salesmen who have said we will be getting the Nav Plus so there may be some truth to that.

As a owner of a Nav system in my RX-300 I understand how it is a great bonus, but I look at it as icing on the cake and would never make the choice of the BMW vs Audi based on the Nav package. I would however make a choice to wait for the Nav plus if the time period was under a year.

Default well I heard from a dealer....

that there are no plans to bring the NAV Plus to the US for safety reasons. It sounded like dealer speak to get me into the current model.

Audi has noticed that alot of US drivers are getting into accidents with the center dash-type screens and they do not want / cannot afford another HUGE lawsuit blamed on their NAV screen due to ignorant American drivers.

Take that for what it's worth. I don't buy it.

The person who informed us was not trying to get us to buy Audis, I assure you that. He even told us that the new system will be an upgrade option for 99.5 and up cars. If anything, he was trying to sell this new NAV system. I guess we'll have to see what happens around January when they release the telematics package with OnStar and the new digital cell phone.
