I just got my Bel RX65 in the mail today... and am trying to hardwire it...
I've run the wire across the headliner, down the driver side A pillar, and down to the fuse box.
I've cut the power cord (Smart Power Cord) and there are 4 wires. 4 of them.
Red, Black, Yellow, and Green.
I thought there'd be only two. the power and the ground. And I am no electrician.
The problem is, no matter what combination I try, the bel won't turn on.
I'm going through Fuse 8. The one for the Telephone, etc. It should be powered once I turn the car on. (which I did to see if it would turn the Bel on).
The only combination that had any effect was red wire to fuse, black wire to ground. But all I could hear was a sputtering sound coming from the detector...no lights.
HELP... what to do. anyone know exactly which wire is power and which is ground?

no need for the direct wire thingamajiggy.
it would have been easy had I had power tester thingy... you know... to test which of the four wires was the power. But I didn't have one.
I took my car over to Circuit City with a 6 pack (ain't no way I'm going to pay $40 to have them hook some wires up for me) and the guys tested the wires...
Red = Power
Green = Ground
Yellow/Black = don't matter...they were the mute and alert functions on the smart cord power plug.
So for a 6 pack I solved my problems. Hardwired and good to go.
and saved $33
