i'm looking for a nice sub for my car but nothing out of control. i'm thinking of taking my friends 12" Xplod but i still need a box and amp. anyone have suggestions on where i can get them for a good price. i had a bandpass but i didnt like the sound and it was just too big and heavy. also, is the installation easy or do i have to tap into the head unit?

everyone in the audio forum shot down the volfenhag's saying they aren't good... i am soo confused now... i really want to get the volfenhags but i dont want to be sucked into a bad sub...

any advice here ppl ... trying to keep the cost down ...

I'm a guy who likes to retain as much of the trunk space as possible. So I went with a 10" sub in a custom fiberglass sealed box.

But I've had great luck with SubZone boxes, www.thezeb.com sells them, and they are true MDF boxes, not particle board with MDF face, so I was really happy with mine. Of course I am happier with my custom box now :-).

As for the amp, you can go with pretty much anything, they are all ery similar. Just stay away from the ones advertising maximum power in big bold letters on the amp and you should be OK.

I've had great luck with Lightning Audio (their Storm and Strike lines, you don't want their Bolt line) and Memphis.
