Default Need Help. Friend bought lowered 2005 A4, and is having rubbing issues

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/33213/new_audi_011.jpg"></center><p>
My friend bought a 2005 A4 3.0 Non Quattro. It was lowered already when he got it. I told him to get some 19"s (ET35) and when he put them on it rubbed like crazy in the front.

Without having to send the 19"s back, what can he do here?

There is no record of what suspension he has on there now, how can we find that out? The springs are black and the shocks are black as well. The front wheels are pretty much tucked up inside the wheel well but do not rub on factory 17s.

Thanks for any help.

Default You mean you friend bought a slammed 2005 A4... How low is the thing? Pics would help.

What tire size is he running? 235/35/19 is usually the optimal size.

What's the width of the wheel?

I'm lowered, but I have no rubbing issues whatsoever.

Default They are 245/35/19s. Pics in the original post. Please help!

How does he check if there are the bumpstop things I have read about? Shop says the fenders were already rolled too, but not sure if they know what they are talking about.

The front tire is tucked... if that thing has coilovers why not just raise the car?

Default Isn't proper size for plus two 235/35/19? Not that that should make too much of a difference.

It's probably only a few mm difference. Car is definately slammed. Maybe rims are too wide as well?

It doesn't have coilovers. We are trying to figure out what kind of springs/shocks it has...help!

Could it be that the springs/shocks are just too soft thus causing rubbing on load?

Default The bumpstops would be an issue only if they weren't reinstalled or were aggressively trimmed...

If you jack the car up a little and peer into the wheel well, you should be able to see the bumpstops at the top of the shock assembly (disregard the arrow pointing to the black dustboot; the bumpstop is the reddish-orange part).

The front OEM sport and non-sport bumpstops are the same part IIRC and shouldn't drastically affect ride height unless they've been trimmed down.

Maybe, how do I find that out?

If the previous owner took them out, would it make the car more likely to rub?
