Default Need help with HomeLink ......

I have the homelink system and a genie garage door opener. I have reset the homelink system just like the homelink website says. I have programmed the first homelink button just like the audi booklet says. All the lights lightup and flash like the book says they will. So when I press the first button, it does it's little blink thing and then turns solid, but the door doesn't open. arrrrrrrr......

Did you really hold it down....? Like press and hold? Mine won't open with a press/release, I have to hold it down (light solid) until the door opens. Also, car ignition is on..right?

maybe your garage door has a rolling code. Check the manual...

Default On mine, I had to use the rolling code setup instructions further along in the manual

After doing the initial 'point your remote at the bumper and watch the flashing lights' thing, it was then necessary to remove the garage door opener lamp cover, push the rolling code setup button, then go back to the car and push my selected remote button again.

Hey, it was a bit of a hassle but it's worked fine ever since.

I copied this from a thread on this subject dated 11/16/2001.

Be careful with Homelink. My garage door has a rolling code, I didn't know that and I killed my homelink trying to program it. Dealer replaced my visor already and it still doesn't work (the light doesn't come on). I need to make an appointment to have them check the wiring.

Default Yes, you usually have to notify the receiving unit that you're about to program a unit

Just programming the sending unit in the visor isn't enough, not with rolling codes.

Default Did the same thing last night with my Genie opener... Worked fine! [more]

After the initial programming (at the front bumper) you have to get up on a ladder and remove the lamp cover like NMAudi says. Press the bottom black button on the right side of the genie console (which should be the program button). Then go back to your car and press the homelink button you've chosen.

It worked for me... hope this helps!
