Default Probably too aggressive a compound.

You need something finer. Try Griot's Garage Fine Hand Polish.

Ideally you want to use a random orbital. If you went back and forth in the same direction you dulled it.

Default If you're uncomfortable take it somewhere.

You can do it yourself if you're careful and go slow from here on out (sounds like you got a little wild).

Whenever you polish something you move to a finer and finer grit until you get the result you want.

It may be that you got so wild you took the clearcoat away. The underlying color is dull (the clearcoat is the shine). If that's the case all you can do is have that panel sprayed again.

With very clean & dry fingertips lightly feel the area. Does it feel rough or smooth?

Default I would suggest a body shop

likely wetsanding and machine polishing is in order... hopefully you have not gone through the clear.

I did this on my last car which was black. Man I was p!!$$ed I took it into the dealer and they passed me over to the cleanup crew. they used some liquid wax and power buffed the area for 2 minutes and it was gone. $20 tip for that kid!!!
