Default Need help interpreting a noise I'm hearing........

lately I'm hearing a screeching sound. It only happens under hard acceleration for a brief second, usually from a dead stop. It appears to sound like a belt, I'm thinking that it could be my accessory belt. Is this a possibility? Is it possible that when I did my TB back in February they sent me the wrong (longer) belt and it's slipping under hard acceleration? Any ideas, what else could screech under hard acceleration? And it's definitely not the tires. TIA

Have you tugged on the belt? Does it feel lose? How old is your tensioner?

Belt def. doesn't feel lose, the tensioner is new, replaced at the same time as TB.

What about the A/C tensioner? Was that replaced too?

No, I wasn't aware of an AC tensioner. I did not replace that.

Default So you didn't do all your belts then. Replace the belts you didn't and the A/C tensioner

See if that fixes the noise issue(s).

Default The B6 1.8t only has two belts, Timing Belt (toothed belt) and Accessory Belt (ribbed belt)

Those parts look like B5 parts. The accessory belt also runs the AC compressor and I don't think there is another tensioner.

Default A/C tensioner? Not sure what part you are meaning by that Nate...

there is no a/c tensioner on the AMB B6. There are rollers and the accessories belt tensioner...

Default Yes, those are my B5 parts. Ah, yer right on that. I was tired and shouldn't help when I am

However, now that I see the right diagram and that you do in fact have only one tensioning dampener.

I'd really go over everything with a fine tooth comb and make sure everything is running smoothly.

When I did my TB, I had a clicking noise from the new TB tensioner on cold starts for a few days, then it went away on it own. Since yours has been on since February, it could be a shoddy belt or bad tensioner that can't hold under acceleration.
