Default Need help reguarding Audio!!

OK, I hope someone here can help me out. I have just installed a Sony 5 channel amp and eliminated the Bose system in my Audi A4 (2002). The problem is a lack of volume, the front and rear outputs on the amp are at about 3/4 and the sub is turned full up and i get just a little more bass than factory. The amp is rated at 75x4 and 250x1. I am using three JL Audio 10" woofers (10w0). I used this amp in my passat and it used hit in the 140db range with the factory VW speakers. I did keep the factory head unit in the audi. I do not know what to do, I am very disappointed. Please give me some advice, at this point the only other thing that I can think of is the fact that the car may not be getting enough volts to the amp through the remote.

Default Too low impedance speakers? Maybe the VW speakers were 8, and these 4.

I'd check the Audio forum, probably more skilled people on this topic over there...

Default Where did you get the line level signal from?

I must be that the line level signal you are feeding your Sony 5ch is just not high enough. You could turn it up but if they are already at 3/4 and the sub is maxed out then there is just not enough from the head unit. Might want to look into a line driver.

As far as the remote, if the Sony is ON then it's on all the way. The voltage on the remote line has nothing to do with the amp's power output.

Default Re: did you replace the bose speakers? they won't work with aftermarket amp (more)

the bose speakers run at 2 ohms and the bose amp is designed to drive this very low load. aftermarket amps will require new speakers in the 4-8 ohm range.

Did you use a high level to low level adaptor or did you buy the Blaupaunkt adaptor plug that plugs into the back of the factory radio?

I installed an amp into a 02 Bose A4 just to power the sub and the signal was very weak.

Also, one last thought is that the sub might be out of phase with the rest of the speakers. Try reversing the phase of the sub and see if the bass sounds any louder.

Email me if you have anymore questions.
