Default Need some help. In the middle of a CV boot job. Can someone tell me how to....
separate the inner CV joint without damaging it? I've got it off the car, in a vice. I've been tapping it lightly with a hammer around the edges but nothing seems to be happening. I don't want to damage it of course. Anything I'm missing?

That's the outer. No one seems to ever mention doing an inner. I've searched the whole forum.

Default OK. I'm slow. I finally figured it out.
You have to remove the outer joint to slide the inner boot off/on, then repack.

nah, outer joint gotta come off, both boots should be changed anyways
