Default New A4 and New Brakes

Just picked up my car, love it so far. Only problem is the brakes feel awful.

They have no bite at all. When I picked up the car, yesterday I noticed lots of rust, which is normal but now even after 150 miles there is still heavy streaks of rust and the braking is noisy.

I know brakes take a little while to break in but I'm concerned.

Had the exact same problem on my last car due to the fact that there was so much rust from it sitting in the compund that the pads got too hot trying to wear it off and became "glazed" and had to be replaced.

Any input on this matter?

Car feels awesome but it doesn't seem to want to slow down

Default How does the pedal feel? Is it squiishy like there could be air in the lines? Have you tried to

perform some 30mph-0mph stops (hard but even braking)? Give it some more time, but you may have some air in your brake lines.

Default Thanks I will try that.

I am going to wait a few more miles but its quite strange. I am sure it will get fixed. Just went for a drive in the dark, I really like how the car looks at night and the Zenon's are nice adn bright!

Default If the pedal feels firm then it's probably some buildup on your rotors. It's perfectly safe to make

some braking runs from 20mph, 30mph, and even up to 50mph. Just don't slam on the brakes, but rather press firmly and evenly to bring the car to a complete stop.

Default Give it time

I just got an '04 A4 last month and thought the brakes sucked at first. Even took it back to have the dealer check them. They didn't have any bite untill about 1300 miles or so. Now they work great (2000 miles). Just be patient and careful and things should turn out fine.
