don't go through automatic car washes...
except true 'touchless' systems
the kind where the car is stationary and the machine moves around the car and sprays/soaps/sprays/drys
other than that do it by hand.
(unless you lease, then do whatever is easiest for you)

Re: Many people have said sport rims scratch *very* easily with an automatic car wash.
Sport rims easily scratch since extends outside of tire rubber. Happened at an automatic carwash - ouch!!!
