New A41.8TQTip reluctant to change from 4th to 5th
I'm driving a new 1.8TQTip on its second tank of gas with about 200 miles on the clock. Compared with my 2000 1.8T this car doesn't change from 4th to 5th when it should. It requires much lower revs and speed to do so than it should in my opinion.
Is this an effect of being a brand new car, not broken in, or should this be investigated by the dealer?
Kevin.

That's not his problem...I've roken mine in and still rarely get over 200 out of full tank...
If you drive fast, then even a supposedy efficient car like the A4 willonly get 12-13 mpg. As to te shift problem, itsprobably just a matter of breaking in...as you drive more, the car should adapt to how you drive (ie if you floor it all the time, it will downshift sooner, upshift later or if you drie gently, it should learn to up**** later and not downshift as often).
