Achtuning is proud to announce the release of our own line of Oil Cooler Kits for the 2.7t, 2.8 and 1.8t. You asked for it and we now have it! Prices will range from $395 - $550 depending on application. All the kits will be shipped ready to install on the car, complete with instructions. The kits are built using only the very best in components, including Setrab oil cooler cores!
Here is a teaser shot. Better pictures and more detailed installation photos to come very soon.

ALL KITS will ship with the lines precut and assembled ready for installation. We also extrude hone each distribution housing (with built in thermostat valve) for improved flow.
I have been running this kit on my car for the last month and I have yet to see my oil temps break 225 and that includes running the car at the S4 Challenge with 116F ambient temps! In normal weather and normal driving I cannot get it to break 200F.
The unit will mount to the frount of the Air condensor/radiator. We will provide pictures of them mounted on the different cars asap. Side mount kits will be available for those running FMICs.
The standard B6 A4 1.8t units will be $450 + shipping.
You can pre-order your kit below (Will ship in 1-2 weeks). 1.8t and 2.8 kits can be pre-ordered but will not ship until early November (Pre-ordered kits will not be charged until they are ready to ship). Custom applications and sizes are available as well! Kits for the A4 3.0, TT, A6 4.2, New S4 and Allroad 4.2 will be ready sometime in November.

1) What was the oil temperature before the install? It is hard to gauge benefit without knowing the base line.
2) What will 10F or 20F (I'm just guessing here, see question no. 1) lower oil temperature buy you?

2) Lower oil temps are definitely a good thing. They help with engine longevity and make things like track days less harsh on the engine. I used to have to cut my track sessions short because my car would get 275F+

I am rather sure that INATEQUATE oil temps will lead to excessive oxidation and resultant thickening. ie. short trips. I have seen extremely low mileage cars with horrible pitting on the engine internals due to the oil not fully reaching operating temp and boiling off condensed water. Sludge and varnish deposits can be increased signifantly just from your oil cooler. So much for a correlation between oil temp and engine life unless you want to go into a more complete explanation or cite references. Also, nothing cleans an engine better than *hot oil* and highway trips are an important part of the engine oil life cycle. That being said, your system operates with a thermostat which will not come on until a given temp, 225 I suppose. So until that temp, nothing happens except the bill comes.
After the thermostat kicks-in, how is pressure affected? Will I be running out a gear and all of a sudden oil pressure drops!? It HAS to drop for an instant due the interia of the oil sitting in the cooler and lines, a definate, but short, drop. Ok, so pressure drops slightly overall from all the lines and thermostat and cooler and stuff do you guys have a way to measure the flow? It could be reduced too. What about clogging and anti-drainback? Original warranty is VOIDED, true?
