Hi all you Audi people...I have a couple questions. I just bought a 2002 A4 quattro w/3.0L auto and need to know: 1) is it a B4, B6, etc? and 2) where can get a front license plate bracket without paying $100 at the dealer?

Thanks,

Default B6....

I'm sure you can find them most anywhere...
In fact I have a few that I've never used.

OK - So how do I get the bracket, Eddie Man?
Also - What performance parts can anyone recommend? It has sport suspension, 17" wheels, Toyo tires, bose, leather, and only 23K miles. Accelerates nicely and quick, but tranny shifts a little funky in "D" (especially between 1st and 2nd)..not too bad in "S" - I haven't used the Tiptronic much. My previous car was a 911, so I'm not yet impressed with handling/cornering, but it is cheaper..Are there performance chips avail? what about mods to breathe better (K&N?)...
Comments? - Sugestions?

Default Some answers...

Bracket:
Pay for shipping and it's yours.

Regarding any performance mods:
Surf around a bit and check out other member's cars (especially in their sig)...
ie., click on any mod in MY sig for more info.

Here's some of my input to get you started:
-Handling
Many options here, from new dampers, springs, coilovers, sway bars, etc.
-Engine
Not much for 3.0, but a Super Charger is available, Cold Air Intake, Catback Exhaust & chip (but marginal gains only)...
-Cosmetic
Quite a few.

Hope this helps.

Default thoughts

as far as performance upgrades are concerned, you're unfortunately pretty limited w/ the 3 liter v6...there are chips available but to be honest they won't really provide you with too much in terms of gains...for help in the breathing department, i'd recommend an exhaust...upgrading the airbox won't help you much and in some cases can actually hurt you...the airbox is one part Audi really did well...some popular exhausts are Milltek (my personal fave...i'm planning on getting it at some point), Thermal (a bit louder, but excellent performance), AWE (almost identical to Thermal), Borla (Quieter like Milltek, and probably the cheapest but still of excellent quality)...if you really want to boost the car speedwise, there are supercharger kits, but I don't know how well the Tip transmission would handle it...it's not a transmission that handles a lot of HP so that'll be your biggest limiter aside from cost to get major performance gains...hope this helps, and welcome to the forum!

Default Actually on the 3.0 an intake does make a noticeable difference...

And the Tip ought to handle the SC just fine: the kit doesn't boost peak torque output an outrageous amount, but does keep the torque curve extremely flat, almost all the way to redline.

I've got some of the less popluar "go" mods around here with the exhaust and intake

O, and with handling, non-factory alignment spec helps too!

Default Alright...

I'll double check when I get home on the bracket and send you an email...
If you have PayPal, that would be the best and quickest way to get things rollin'.
Well anyways, I'll email you tonight.
