So my car was running fine but I came out to start it and it was cranking super fast. I thought at first that the starter wasn't kicking out and engaging the flywheel. I replaced the starter with a spare known good starter and it does the same thing. Tried to push start the car and pop the clutch. No start even getting it rolling pretty fast.
Took the timing belt upper cover off and cranked the engine. It was cranking very fast and the timing belt was turning.
So I figured somehow I bent valves and I bought another head.
Tore the engine down and the belt and tensioner were fine (only like 29k since I last changed timing belt and pump). The timing marks were lined up perfectly.
I pulled the head and from what I can tell the valves don't look bent. I haven't tried to turn the cams since the head is in the back of my truck right now.
I turn the crank with a socket and all the pistons move so the crank is not damaged. I cleaned up the carbon off the pistons and there are no collision marks on the pistons from the valves. They look brand new.
Dumb, but obvious questions,
1. Did you actually check the compression?
2. Really dumb question.. Did someone F with your engine and remove the spark plugs?
