Default Nokian WR vs. Continental ContiSport Contact 2...

How do these tires compare in wet and dry conditions? I need to replace my summer Conti tires (stock) before the nasty CT winter and I'm considering replacing them with a great, high-performance all-season tire (from what I've read the Nokian WR is it). I plan on getting 17's and putting them on my sport rims rather than buying new rims. Not sure if they'll get damaged by the elements though. I want the best of both worlds year round.

Default No tire is going to give you the best of all worlds, year round...

I'd hesitate to run the WR's year round. While they are classified as an all season tire, I think they will get very soft/mushy at temps above 50-60 degrees. Below that, they are a great choice. I have them on my stock sport wheels for winter.

The Conisport Contact 2 is not an all season tire. It's a summer performance tire and will get you into an accident on snowy/icy roads (trust me on this). Do not attempt to make it through a CT winter on these tires.

Just my $.02...

They expect BAD winter in the NE. Better get yourself set of snow tires on 16"rims..

Default I gotta think you are talking about the Conti ContiExtremeContact...

otherwise I agree with Shaun. I did 2 months on the SP9090's last year and felt I would die at any moment.
I am looking at the ContiExtremeContact as an alternative to snow tires and summer tires even knowing that I will sacrifice performance on both fronts.
I can't speak about the Nokian's but it sounds like the come highly recommended.
