Gets to run more timing from having lower intake air temperatures = more power

Default Well, if the one you have has enough capacity, then nothing.
An intercooler doesn't make power, it just prevents the loss of it due to heating effects. You only want just enough. More is not better becasue you get more pressure drop as you go bigger (for a given design) which also robs power.
