Default Notes on standard versus sporty suspension

Bob P., Marc C. and others have commented that the A4 3.0 felt floaty or underdamped. I had the non-sport suspension originally and felt the springs and shocks were good, and only after Bob mentioned it did I notice any underdamped feeling. But wanted better cornering...so I recently installed H&R Coilovers.

Cornering and general handling are better...amazing really, but ride bounciness is also increased, and overall stiffness does not feel greatly increased. I've also spent quite a bit of time in my friend's S4. My handling is now better than the S4 and my ride noticeably stiffer.

My summary is: I pretty sure the original non-sport suspension is pretty well set up...it is high, but the springs are good, and so are the dampers. I think the overall stiffer frame of the 02- A4s makes the ride different from the previous A4. I like my new ride, but it is the height not the dampers or springs that feel different.

And wow...is this ever subjective. It feels dramatically different to me, but my friends who ride in the car aren't always sure it feels different. It's all what you are used to...
