OBD tool and vag-com diagnostic?

what is the difference between this 2 ?...
dont they do the same thing?

VAG is capable of doing OBD, but I don't believe ODB can do VAG stuff..

this is correct

VAG is proprieotry VW/Audi protocol that *extends* OBD2, which is in turn an ISO standard (ie public and supposed to be manufacturer-independent).
