ODBII reader or VAG COM
Is the VAG COM software basically an ODBII code reader? I keep hearing about people using VAG COM to erase codes on chipped cars (after returning ecu to stock) prior to taking them into the dealer for service. Will a standard ODBII reader work for this as well? Thanks!

It's more than just a generic code reader
Any generic OBDII code scanner/reader can read trouble codes and clear codes. The VAG-COM is specifically designed to replace the dealer computer. You can do many "write" functions to the various modules throughout the car to make changes. This is something a code scanner can NOT do.
