strange thing happened today. i pulled in to refuel at my shell. there was a G35 on the other side of the pump.
we acknowledged each other, even though we parked in "head-tail" position. unbelievably, guy got out of his car & walked up to me. he walked around my car, complimented me on account of my (freshly waxed )A4 & wondered if it was fast. stunned, i got out too & i admitted that most likely it wasn't as fast as G35 & but reminded him that whatever audi gave up in HP, it made up in comfort & safety. he DID like the interior. i praised him on his choice of a car ( hey, what else could i do?)
& wished i had G35 engine ( true, but not that toothpick of an auto shifter). we talked for some time & he asked some basic questions. i recognised, he knew NOTHING about audi, what cars it made etc. perhaps, if audi was more aggressive in advertising, some of those brainwashed sheep, going for "prestige" infiniti, would choose an audi???
just a thought...

Both brands suffer in this department, with the general public.
It's nice to see that the battle can be friendly, at least :-)

Not many people seem to want find out more about the brand. A lot of car owners will make up their minds on brand loyalty when they are very young, I know I did. Perhaps, in the future, Audi will be more mainstream after a generation growing up with SpeedVision and prolonged Audi massacres at LeMans. I can live without gazillions of other Audis on the road.

Don't sweat it, Infiniti and Acura can't cut the mustard as luxary brands anywhere but in the USA. AUDI is recognized world over and sells a hell of lot more cars. In Europe they're all badged as Nissans and Hondas, and they don't sell.
