i turned off my car and my car was shutting down the seconds. right after i shut it down, i my frined came back so i had to turn the car on again, so i decided to turn the ignition coil back on while the car engine was still running, and when i turned the key, it made this weird loud noise from engine...do you guys think this damaged anything?

since the car was already running is should have made a loud noise and as soon as you let go it should have stopped. As long as you don't do this frequently it is fine, people can slip up and do it a lot and automakers build parts to with stand that stuff b/c they expect that people do it.

... hence the loud noise. As the others have said, as long as you don't this frequently, there won't be any problems.

why would automakers expect people to do this? it is impossible to do it without a turbo timer, and they probably dont expect the mass to get turbo timers.

At least on my ignition switch, there's an interlock that prevents me from moving the key to the "start" position if I have already engaged the starter once before. Hence, I have to turn the key to off, then to start again to disengage that interlock.

you get back in the car and forget that it's running so you instinctively try to start the car. I've seen it happen plenty.
