Well after having our 03 1.8T Quattro Avant for a few days a few common issues have appeared...
I'd appreciate any advice that you can give...
-----------------
1st up and most annoying is the "fuel low warning" in the central cluster display that we are getting, even when the car is full of gas...Also the gauge is only reading 3/4 full when the tank is full. And yes the gas cap is tight...
The code I pulled from the car is as follows:
00771 - Fuel Level Sensor (G)
30-00 - Open or Short to B+
I cleared the code but it came back once I put the car into D...
So what is involved to fix this issue, should I have the car near empty before bringing it to a dealer for warrenty repair. Is the fuel sensor in the tank or a different module controller ?
Anything else that should be done for this ? IS there a TSB for it.
-------------------
2nd issue is the speaker crackling issue. Major annoying and I'd just like to get it fixed before the warrenty ends.
The front two speakers (sounds mostly like the tweeters) gave a major electrical crackling noise.
Non-Bose unit.
The right rear passenger speaker also works sometimes, but not always.
The left (drivers side) rear speaker works ok.
Any hope that the dealer could fix this issue ? (from what I have read it does not seem likely)
Will they just do the lazy thing and swap out the headunit, or will they trace the wiring harness.
Is there a TSB for this fault.
-------------
And one final question, we bought this car with about a year left in the warrenty (not from a main dealer). Can I just show up at any Audi dealer and request that they fix the car under warrenty. I want to be nice to whatever dealer I go to (probably will be Stevens Creek in the Bay area as it is closest to me) and give them a chance to fix it.
Also will I get a loaner while the car is being repaired ?
I knew that I would see a few issues on the car, so thankfully I have seen them now when still under warrenty...Owning an Audi is still a wonderful experience, it's only when one is away for a while that you realize how good they are. (not electrically)
Many thanks for your help guys...

loaners are totally up to the dealers discretion - i took mine to a local dealership and the car was from New Hampshire (im in VA) they offered the loaner and said it would be a few days before i get my car back.

i just inform them i need a loaner and they make a reservation for one. i was in yesterday for a broken window regulator and they set me up with a new B7 A4 for the day. No questions asked.

i have that issue all the time. Have gotten it fixed 4 times but it always seems to come back. It's something about grease getting in the way of the connections. What the dealer does is clean that grease off but after a while, the problem comes back. It's annoying as hell and the dealers (i've tried 3 different dealers) can't seem to find a permanent fix for it.
