Oil pan removal and replacement?

I crack my oil pan (lower) any one know if there is a gasket needed or a sealant? Is there any tips required to change this. I cant afford to go to a mechanic right now. Please help me out...thanks

lower the front of the subframe to get to the rear bolts for the pan. 1.8t uses sealant for the pan, no gasket. While you are in there, you should replace the oil pump pickup tube. These engines create sludge quite easily and it clogs the pickup tube. Once that tube is clogged seriously, you can count the days until your motor is done.
This job is not all that easy or fast. It is key to line up the subframe properly when you put it all together, or you will be replacing wheel bearings, control arms and tires. There are three holes, one on top of another, where the subframe is bolted. This lines up the suspension for proper camber. A 14MM deep socket will fit perfectly in these holes. Be sure you use them as a guide when you are bolting it back up.
You also need to support the motor before you drop the subframe. ECS has a suitable stand under engine tools. It may be under general purpose if I remember. Good luck.

Hey Just did mine two hours ago. it uses a sealant. its easy you can do it ur self. I have 2002 A4 v6. what do u have?
