Oil usage needing to top up.
I've recently bought my A4 1.8 T and have had to top up with oil after 4 weeks! There is also a slight smell in the car and I've read that it can be caused by a blocked breather hose that causes pressure in the system and forces oil out elsewhere? I've also read on this forum that the timing chain cover gasket is prone to leaking and the camshaft cover gasket too.
Does anyone know more and could advise where best to start checking?
I've taken some photo of where I can see signs of oil.
You can see in the photos that there is signs of oil at the injectors on the fuel rail? Also at the rear of the engine near the top.
Thanks

I thought I would take off the crank case vent valve (hockey puck I think its known as) and I notice that there is a fair amount of oily brown sludge in the valve and connecting pipes, I could blow through the valve still though. Is this telling me something is wrong?
Investigated further today took the hockey puck off it was full of crud so cleaned it with white spirit . When I blow through one tube it comes out the other either way, is this normal? I tried it on the car with engine revving and it is sucking air from crank case in from top of valve and out the bottom.
I also checked the small PCV valve and found that the rubber T Piece was split and looks like the previous owner attempted a bad repair. I glued the tube back on the T Piece then wrapped it in self amalgamation tape with a final wide house clamp to keep it all tight. The PCV when blowed into was moving fine. PCV T Piece broke off
Glued rubber and sealed with self amalgamation tape and clamp.
