from what i can tell so far, the non-bose system could use some bottom end. it would be MUCH easier to just add a sub.
most systems also benefit from cleaner power, but i doubt that the stock speakers were ever intended to take more power than they are already getting from the stock deck/amp.
i have had $3K stereos in my past few cars, and it is killing me to listen to the stock stuff, but frankly, it's gonna be VERY expensive and difficult for me to replace the factory stuff to suit my tastes.
also, if you can be more specific, it would help me answer a lot better.

I noticed Symphony to be very week dynamicly.
It sounds like the sound comes from the huge tube.
I wonder if the AMP would make it more define, clear and sound more aggressive ?
(Dont even think about SUB it only gives you deep Bass tone, not really improving the clearity)

you'd replace the component speakers up front with a nice upscale set (we're talking 4-800 bux)
then, you'd toss a set of components or coax's in the back (another 2-400 bux)
you really gotta have a sub to get the real effect of the music...but cost depends on how much you want. you could do a single 8" in the rear deck for a couple hundred, or you could do three twelves in the trunk for about a grand. (or more)
as far as amplification, it depends on what speakers you get. figure on at least 75x4 for the cabin, and roughly 150-300 watts per sub (depending on size). (this will run about a grand, up to several grand).
installation will cost about 500 a day, at a nice professional shop. this isn't including materials/wire/etc either.
if you're gonna do it, do it right.
but, back to what i originally suggested, you could add a sub easily, then be able to tone down your bass/mid/treble controls to suit the smaller speakers more. you could do all this for like...sheesh, i dunno, maybe 500 bucks. versus like 5-6 grand to do the above mentioned complete system.
all boils down to how bad you want it.

The bose upgrade is $920.00 cdn. Replacing fronts and a 10" box sub in the trunk with a 4 channel amp to run it . Judging by your post this will be more than adeqate. BTW when your choosing an amp by the better one.
I did this and the only thing that I don't like is losing the trunk space. There are built in stealth subs that don't take up as much space but tend to be pricey.
