which one is better?? 1.8T quattro or 3.0 quattro

not even close...
its not just the power... its the power curve. The 3.0 has all its torque applied at very low RPM... so its effortless.
You still have to wring out a chipped 1.8T to get it to go. Chips only matter above 5000 rpm.

in straight line speed, 1/4 mile 0- ~100 i take any 3.0 owner on. The 3.0 WILL NOT run in the 14's.
granted the 1/4 is not the best messure but it is a good test of standing accelleration. On the hiway...could be a differnt story, but remember the 3.0 is 220hp ~220 torque (i dont know exactly) My chiped car makes a little less HP but ALOT more torque. and that torque hits in at 2100 RPM not 5000....Ill take on any 3.0 in standing acceleration.

Have you ever raced a chipped/exhaust 3.0?
Has one ever ran the quarter mile?
No. We don't know how fast the car will be, but just because the 1.8T owners can play the mod game, doesn't mean the 3.0 owners won't.
As I've pointed out many times, a 3.0 with chip increases power to 235HP and 242TQ. Maybe a few HP and a few TQ with an exhaust. I hope you don't trust magazine numbers, since they are notoriously wrong. Most numbers I saw for the ITR were in the mid-high 15's. MT or CD also listed a 16.3 for the CVT, which is actually 4/10ths slower than audi spec. I'm pretty sure someone here was quicker with theirs too.

This whole thing is ridiculous
Just buy what you prefer. It's as simple as that.
All this hypothetical BS will help no one. Don't listen to ANYONE on this forum, not even me. As skibum pointed out, the 3.0 is 4K more. You get a six speed, second power seat, memory settings, wood trim, compass mirror, the option for better quality leather in the 3.0, and etc. It's not just a better engine. Handling is different between the two as well. Just buy which you prefer.

Which cars have you owned in the past that you've liked ? Are you looking for modability or comfort?
If you have come from larger engined normally aspirated cars, or luxury oriented cars, you might like the 3.0 better.
If you come from smaller, small engined cars that need to be revved to go, then the 1.8t might be your cup of tea.
The 3.0 is a more relaxed car with a deeper power range in stock form. It also offers more options from the factory.
The 1.8t takes a little more work to keep on boil, and comes in slightly more basic form. Lots of mods for those who like to tinker.
Drive both back to back on the same day, to get a feel for which you like better.
