Default Operation De-Sludge begins... Auto-RX content inside (this pic will probably give Audi Junkie wood)

i finally decided to begin using Auto-RX to clean out the junk in my engine and to prevent oil sludge even though i have been using Mobil 1 every 5K.

i got the Auto-RX when it was on sale last month ($2 off/bottle). the Rotella is $15/gallon at Walmart and the cheapest BIG filters (be sure to use filters for 2004 models or later) was the STP at AutoZone for $3.70ea.

after the cleaning is done, i'm gonna try Motul's 5w40 Synthetic oil next.

could you post the directions for this process? seems like a good idea, id rather just prevent this problem all together, because it seems that somehow the dealer will find some way to make me pay for it if a sludge issue came up. thanks

Default Use the entire bottle.Run it 2000 mi.Here's inside filter pics of what it removed from a Saab turbo-

After someone who had 2 bottles asked, I'm considering one-half a bottle treatment at full 5000mi OCI X2 (twice) to be the ideal follow-up treatment.

The full post is somewhere on Bob's Foums under "Additives" or recently on the B5 Forum.

I was worried about having to use a conventional oil for a few but the Rotella is ok?

Great for both clean & rinse phases per AutoRx Forum - no worries.

Rotella seems to be the only synthetic people are using with Auto-RX

Default Good conventional like Havoline is good for 3-4k anyway.Rotella Synth is overkill for 2k.What I'd do

I'd just use Havoline and a full bottle of arx for 2k, rinse...another 2k. Then, I'd use the Rotella Synth with a 1/2 bottle of ARX for 5k, a normal oci, rinse with whatever for 2k or 5k, but then do the 5000mi/half bottle ARX/Rotella Synth again. ARX works slowly, those 1/2 bottle 5k runs should be the ticket. Worth the money as it frees ring packs and generally does wonders for overall performance. Figure minimal extra costs as Havoline dino is $8/5q and the RTS is cheap too. The process as I descrived it will go 16-20k..the $45 for ARX is not an issue. Here is a discount code that might work for a few $ off
