Default I had Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my B5 A4 2.8

They worked really well wet/dry/light snow for me. Check www.tirerack.com for reviews.

www.tirerack.com

Check Tire Rack's Reviews. There's new compounds out that are alleged very quiet.

Default You don't like the H/V/W4s? They have long wear at 500 and AA wet grip plus crisp handling...?

They are poor in snow though.

If you want the best (imo) look at the high end Goodyear Eagles. I have Eagle Response Edge and are the best tire I ever owned. F1 All-Seasons excellent too and there is a new Eagle GT that is not expensive, I don't know about theirperformance.

If you don't like the Yokos, I really don't know what would make you happy. The only issue I know of w/them is dry-rot.

Very happy with my Bridgestone-made Fuzion HRi's. They're smooth, quiet and steady at high speeds. No evident wear after 20K with regular rotation. Surprisingly I've also heard excellent word-of-mouth reports about Bridgestone's even-less-expensive Primewell PZ900s.

Default I can confirm your high regard for the Goodyear Eagle Response Edge, ...

I think the same of the set I'm running, as being the best tires I've ever owned. 215/55/17.
