To Order or Not to Order

To Order or Not to Order
My dealer doesn't have the A4 configuration I want. Do you think I should order and wait 2 month or compromise and get something close enough to what I wanted. What have you guys done and how long did it take you to get your car? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: I ordered...
I ordered mine and it took like 6 months. But it was from a small volume dealer, and it was right at the end of the '02 production cycle. So I ended up with an '03. Definitely worth the wait, though!

Wait, get what you want...Your paying that much money, get what you want...
I couldn't wait and my combination was hard to find so I had to get the OnStar which didn't really need or want. Plus it has the little antenna, which bothered me, but kinda like it now. It's different in a way.

Plan on a good 3 months if there is nothing in the pipeline.
Mine took a little less cause there was a stick with sport 1.8t about to go into production, dealer just needed to spec all the options.

Wait and get exactly what you want...
Mine also took about 6 months, like jeebus I'd originally ordered an '02, but the line shut down and I had to wait for an '03. Well worth the wait, got the options I wanted, nothing more nothing less.

It comes down to cost vs. livability...(more)
Can you live without certain options? Do you want to wait for the car? Also, many dealers will not deal on ordered cars. Are you willing to pay full price to get these extras? I ran into the same dilemma. I wanted the power seat that is set to come out in Feb., but I couldn't wait that long, and my dealer will not deal at all on ordered cars. So, what seemed like a $400 option I could not live without, would have turned into a 4 month, $2500 option. My choice was clear. Good luck.
