If you decide to buy the car at the end of the lease you are not liable for excess mileage, all you are liable for is the payoff balance at that point which is the residual value of the vehicle.
The only time you have to pay for excess mileage out of pocket is if you decide to turn in the car.
At times it is actually cheaper to buy the car and sell it at a loss than paying the excess mileage (see my example earlier, it is actually only $3K to buy the car for $15K and sell it off for $12K rather than paying $5K in excess mileage penalty).
However my opinion still stands, it seems like you're leasing for the wrong reasons and unless you reconsider you will be in **** up to your neck in 4 years.
If anything at least do a 15k lease option that way you leave your options open at the end of the lease.
Oh and if you decide to purchase your vehicle at the end of the lease you will be liable for sales tax on the residual value. However taxes and fees vary by state so you'd have to check with your locality.

I forgot to mention that the negotiated price doesnt include the loyalty discount. Anyways I live in NY where the tax is 8.125. Im going to check another dealer out tomorrow to see if I can get a better deal. I really feel comfortable with this guy though. He was very upfront with me about needing to make a profit. If I definitely plan to buy the car afterwards, does it matter if I go over my mileage? He made it clear in the contract that the money factor is protected at.00188 and can only get better. Is that true? He wrote "price protected" on the contract. Thanks again man.
