Default TJ: Question again about the night picture....

Ok I was playing around with my camera. I always use manual mode for night pictures because you need the flash off, but I had never played with any settings. I know you said to raise the exposure but it's almost dark outside so I was playing around with it.

Here is what my options are:

Exposure is set to 0 as the default..
I can go to +/- .3, .7, 1.0, 1.3, 1.7, 2.0

For ISO (Sensitivity):

Default was set to Auto
I can go with: Auto, 100, 200, 400

I'll have enough time to play around with any combination, but I'm lazy if you had to guess what would be my best odds of capturing the fairly dim light coming out of my car.

Exposure 2.0 and ISO 400 ?

Default Nikon Coolpix 4300 ... a few years old....

I actually didn't realize it even had this many features, because most of the pictures I take are just in Auto Mode and during the day time, but seems to have a pretty decent feature set.

P.S. The light I'm trying to capture is how my interior glows red when I unlock my doors, but you're looking through tint and it's not that bright to begin with, so it's difficult.

When I tried with Exposure at 0 and ISO on Auto the other night the picture actually came out solid black. It did not pick up any of the red interior light.
